Let's talk about... perfume

The history of perfume doesn't begin in recent days, it has its beginnings in Antiquity. The word "perfume" comes from the Latin word "per fumus" and means "through smoke".It's first origins are not exactly known, but people were using fragrances to conciliate the gods by burning wood.Even in these days, burning scented materials is used in some religions. The perfume as we know it nowadays started to be created in the late 19th century, but in the 20th century designer perfumes were created on a larger scale. There are more than one type of fragrances:
  1. perfume: is the most expensive and more lasting containing 22% essential oils
  2. eau de perfume (EDP): 15-22% essential oils
  3. eau de toilette (EDT): with a smaller percent between 8 and 15
  4. eau de cologne: with only 4% essential oils
  5. eau fraiche: the last scented of all 1-3% essential oil
Don't underestimate the power of perfume. And now let's see some famous quotes:
Marilyn Monroe: "What do I wear in bed? Why, Chanel no. 5, of course!"
Christian Dior: "A women's perfume tells more about her than the handwriting."
Coco Chanel: "A women who doesn't wear perfume has no future."

Amongst my favorite fragrances are : Paco Rabanne - One Million, Chanel Mademoiselle, Prada Candy, Gucci Flora but today I want to talk to you  about my latest favorite perfume: Dolce & Gabbana Desire.

The official description:
The Dolce&Gabbana woman lives by her powerful emotions. Confident, she lets desire take over. She sumptuously wraps herself in desire as a natural instinct rising up from her very soul. Desire by Dolce&Gabbana crowns The One fragrance chapter with an expression of the essence of the Dolce&Gabbana woman in scent.
"Everything starts with desire. There wouldn’t be seduction, sensuality or passion if it wasn’t for desire. For us, it’s always been fundamental to let this sensation go, to break the mould and live freely by emotions."

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana
Top notes: mandarin, lychee, bergamot, lily of the valley
Heart notes: Madonna lily, Indian tuberose, Jasmin, sweet plum nectar
Base notes: vanilla, caramel, sandalwood, musk, Citus Labdanum.

The design is simple with only two colors: black and gold, but the best colors to express luxury. The black bottle is inscribed with Stefano Gabanna's handwritting of "Desire" in gold letters.

Scarlett Johansson stars in the ad for this perfume too, continuing the "The One" series.
"Scarlett was a natural choice for us. Not only for her beauty, which is well known, but for her ability to interpret the many sides of our woman."
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana

I like better floral, oriental scents and this new perfume from D&G suits me perfectly. You can first feel a fruity smell, more exactly the mandarin, then comes the floral scent, I'm guessing it's the Indian tuberose and you're left in the end with a sweet vanilla caramel note. The heart notes of Indian tuberose mixed with vanilla and caramel makes it a sweet fragrances, but not with a cheap smell.

If you've tried it yet let me know what you think and what are your favorite perfumes.

P.S. This post wasn't sponsored, I just like this perfume.

P.P.S. With Google Reader closing soon we need a new alternative to follow all the blogs in one place and I think that Bloglovin could be a good option.Especially now that you can see who is following your blog.Only yesterday I found out about this new feature. But you can only see who is following you if they've created a profile. So go to you account and create a profile so that I can see who my lovely followers are.And let me know if you'd like to follow each other. This is the link and you can also find a badge in the right side of the blog.
Also if you know about other good alternative for Google Reader plese tell me.I'd like to know.
Happy blogging, people!

XOXO
Adrielle
